The 4th October saw Folkestone Optimist Ladies 6s travel to Burnt Ash for their first ever league game. With a mixture of youth and experience they started well with lots of possession, and several forays into the oppositions D meant they were unlucky not to go ahead by half time. At the start of the second half Poppy Rockall drove forward from the back, and split the Burnt Ash defence to create chances for the Ops. From one of a series of short corners, the ball was fed out to Kate Rockall at the top of the D, who skilfully took the ball around two defenders and flicked it into the roof of the net on her reverse. The defence of Evelyn QR, Kate, Poppy and Alex R held strong, passing up to the hard working midfield of Janet, Vicky and Immy which helped us get further short corners. The injected ball went to the top of the D and then back to Janet who slipped it across the goal for Bella G to score. Poppy, deserved her player of the match award and it was a good team performance to put the Ladies 6s top of the league.
