Folkestone Optimists Ladies 6s took on Herne Bay Ladies 4s in a late afternoon friendly. From the outset, Folkestone dominated possession of the ball, making precise passes to outwit the opposition, and carry the ball forward. A set of neat passes saw Edith score within the first 2 minutes, and this boosted Folkestone's spirits. Midfield were fierce, tackling and intercepting to win the ball from Herne Bay, before passing through to the forwards who drove towards the D. Folkestone camped out in the attacking half, determined to keep the ball heading into the goal, and managed 4 goals in the first 15 minutes. Shots were taken early, allowing rebounds to be pounced on and slotted home, or the ball to be passed around the goalie and defense. This resulted in a comfortable 7-0 scoreline at half time.

The Optimists came out swinging after half time, determined to keep their foot on the gas, and sliced through the opposition to score a further 3 goals early in the second half. They then worked on passing across the pitch, using the full width, and changing the channels the play to outwit defense. Herne Bay pushed back, changing their tactics and line up, with a few determined breaks for Folkestone's defensive half. Folkestone's defense stepped up and shut down these plays, easily keeping the ball out of the D, and sending it back up the pitch. Edith hammered in a cross from Kat to score one final goal and bookend the score sheet. Final result was 11-0 with Bella and Scarlett collecting hat tricks, Edith scoring 2, and Sienna, Kat and Poppy each contributing another goal. Well worked 6s!
