Folkestone started their season at home with anticipation and unknowing of the opposition they would face.
Ops started strong passing between each other and seeking to build the play up the field. It became apparent early on that Marden had turned up in form intercepting numerous passes and building attacks of their own.
Despite Folkestone’s efforts Marden got on the score sheet first slotting one in against the defence and GK. Marden were strong, committed, and seemed to pick off any passes Folkestone tried to ship up the field. Soon the goals turned from 1 to 2 to 3 as a stellar performance earned a Marden player a hat trick.
Andrews, who had taken one for the team standing in as goalkeeper, showed her defensive prowess which extended into the GK pads as well as making numerous saves to keep the scoreline more respectable for her comrades.
The ladies did not give up there and sought to hold possession and work it into the front 5. Runs from Timmins injected some well needed pace earning her the player of the match for Folkestone despite a tough day out for the team.
In the second half Folkestone seemed to work things out better and although unable to score they held their opposition to only a single extra goal. Folkestone did not give up, kept working hard and did themselves proud when chasing the game slightly. The match finished 4-0 in Mardens favour and the ladies now look towards their next game to improve and earn some points.
