The final game of the season for the ladies 5s was away against a very strong Herne Bay 3s to decide who came top of the league. We started well and were unlucky not to score and with our defence working hard to keep control of the ball it was a fairly even first 20 minutes. Unfortunately Herne Bay managed to squeeze the ball past our defence into the goal following a penalty corner and another quick attack by them resulted in another goal. We tried to rally and keep our composure but another strike put them 3 - 0 up at half time. In the second half we tried to play our game with some great defensive work and attacking play by joint players of the match Hannah Wallis and Lilly-Ella Gore. We knew we could create chances but Herne Bay defence were difficult to break down. After numerous attempts by both sides Herne Bay managed to get past our defence to win the game 4 - 0. Although we were disappointed in the result we were able to celebrate as a team our promotion to Division Four. Everybody who has played for the 5s this season has given their all, and with two successive years of promotion since forming we have a lot to be proud of.
