The ladies 5s set off early for an away game against a strong Dartford 2s team. It was a fairly even game although we had more chances around the goal. We continued this pressure and eventually we were rewarded with a goal from a lovely short corner strike by Janet Fuller. Dartford didn’t give up and they came close to scoring themselves but with some great defensive play by Folkestone we ensured we went in at half time 1 - 0 up. We found a better rhythm in the second half and some great play by the midfield and forwards resulted in another goal for Janet with an assist by Michelle Phillips. Tess Huijgen put the ball in the net for a third goal only for this to be disallowed by the umpire for a high ball. We were also unlucky not to get a penalty stroke after the defender appeared to stop the ball on the line with her foot. Dartford created a few chances and they scored from a penalty corner strike leading to a tense last 15 minutes. Player of the match Felicity Bone had a superb game controlling the defence and assisting the forwards. Another great team performance with a 2 - 1 win.
