With the last of the summer's sun kissing Bexley field, the Mighty Sevens took their positions with confidence, after last week's 7-0 win.
It's no surprise that the lack of Folkestone's favourite commandant Daniel Kennedy was felt. However the late arrival of Woody Shaw rallied the troops. And they stood tall. Ready for Burnt Ash.
Some quick, simple but smart play saw Matt Mjolnir Carter receive the ball to then obliterate the shocked Ash's backboard. Opening the game 1-0.
Shortly after, an attacking short corner was awarded to the Sevens. A goal was swiftly claimed by Mjolnir, who seemed to spend more time deliberating how to strike be that strong or reverse than the milliseconds that the ball took to make it 2-0.
An overwhelming strength had now overtaken the squad. All players knowing where they needed to be and the men around them.
Burnt Ash were hungry for vengeance but the strength of the midfield fledgling brothers, Elliott and Ollie Wilson, put a firm stop to that.
Before Burnt Ash had a chance to breathe, Folkestone were attacking again. Another short corner was awarded.
Shaking things up Folkestone injected from the right. A quick stop and pass to Borris Nordone saw another bullet hit the back of the net. 3-0.
Ten minutes to go and one of the Wilson brothers made a run. Quick ball skills and clean passing from Mini Mule saw Elliot take the ball and hold onto it to then cheekily make it 4-0.
Eleven tired men waiting on the halftime whistle were discombobulated by a sudden penalty flick against the away team.
But there stood the guardian of the net Daniel 'you shall not pass' Payne. After what seemed like a millennia of psych out mentality from the penalty taker he flicked. A stunning padded Simone Biles movement denied Ash's hope of a number on the board.
The second half quickly saw Chris Simpo cross the white line only to steam roll into Ash's captain leaving him seeing stars on the floor. Thankfully all was okay and Simpo snuck in a tidy shot at the top of the D to cement his first goal of the season 5-0. But was promptly substituted for his schadenfreude celebration.
Ash now just wanting one in the net pushed forward into Folkestone's defence. But there stood the three amigo's Stuart Crableton, Owen Goshford and Simon Hannibal. Nothing was getting past this mountainous trio. Again Ash were denied even a glimpse of the net.
Alfie Brooke now made his hell-for-leather run up the right of the field and with pinpoint accuracy found Mjolnir. Who tapped in his third 6-0.
With the sun setting on this late afternoon game there was one Folkestone player who had been quiet for most of the 60 minutes played. That man was Josh Lowe. Who in a puff of smoke appeared in the attack and pelted the ball in 7-0.
The final whistle blew and the sevens roared with delight. Two games in, 14 goals and currently top of the league. The Mighty Sevens.
