Men's 7s A v Marden Russets

The men’s 7th XI took on Marden Russets in an end to end contest. Ops started the stronger of the two sides with Marden caught out by the movement and structure of the Folkestone side with Josh Lowe an early threat from wide positions. Ops’ early pressure was rewarded with a short corner where Paul Andrews’ strike was deflected off a Marden runner, leaving the keeper stranded as the ball looped over and into the goal. Ops maintained their pressure with defenders Simon Baker & Simon Hunnibal pressing up the pitch to cut out any Marden attacks. Ops’ continued discipline and movement were rewarded again when a perfect-ly weighted through ball was picked up by Jon Ghaemian in the D and rifled in at the near post. Liam Tonolini nearly made it 3 moments later only for the whistle to be blown just before the ball made it’s way into the goal. Marden stepped up a gear in the second half leading to Ops not having the same space they did in the first and despite resolute work from Seb Ingleston, Owen Gosford and keeper Carl Bondzio Marden were soon back on level terms. Ops didn’t back down and had opportunities late on but never quite managed to find a third goal leaving it as draw.
