The men’s 7th XI welcomed Maidstone for their first home game of the season. It didn’t take Ops long to take the lead with Paul Andrews’ short corner initial strike saved by the keeper but Steve Shaw was on hand on to pick up the rebound and coolly slot it in to the goal. Ops controlled the game through the first half with any Maidstone attacks broken down by the defensive pairing on Stuart Ingleston and Cullum Parker. Maidstone pulled one back on the break midway through the second half but Ops didn’t back down with midfield enforcer Stuart Peall picking up the ball and releasing Andy Whitham who was unlucky to be denied at the back post. Shaw turned provider as he released Jon Ghaemian who took the ball round the Maidstone defence and finished with pinpoint accuracy. Maidstone tried to find an equaliser but youngster Liam Tonolini stepped up in defence to make some timely interceptions to keep the game at 2-1 to Ops
