Folkestone Optimists produced a confident and controlled performance to claim a convincing 5–1 victory over Marden.

The Optimists started brightly, opening the scoring through Sam, who converted a drag flick to give Folkestone an early lead. Marden responded well and found an equaliser soon after, making it 1–1 and keeping the contest competitive.

Folkestone quickly reasserted themselves with sharp passing and good movement. The third goal came from Arthur, who finished after a lovely sequence of connected passes that split the Marden defence. This restored Folkestone’s lead and swung momentum firmly in their favour.

The fourth goal followed when a well-timed pass put the forwards through on goal, allowing Harry to finish calmly and extend the advantage. Folkestone continued to dominate possession, and their fifth goal was a clear example of their teamwork, as a series of passes along the 23 created space for Nick to score.

The scoring was completed by Jack, whose backspace shot added Folkestone’s sixth and final goal of the match.

Overall, it was a strong team performance from Folkestone Optimists, whose organisation, passing, and finishing proved too much for Marden in a deserved 5–1 win. This puts them 3rd in the league and all to play for the rest of the season!
