The optimists had their second Marden game in a row this week, this time coming up against their 5s.
Marden started off proceedings with some structured, organised hockey, yet relentless pressure from Folkestone led to many chances early on in the first half. They were unable to keep the mighty ops out for long, with Ward putting the first away.
Another goal then followed by Bates calmly slotted into the bottom corner to put Folkestone comfortably in control at the end of the first half.
Motivated after the half time team talk, a brilliant move down the left flank between Timmins and Thompson saw Folkestone grab another goal merely seconds into the second half, shattering maddens hopes of gaining control of the second half. Two more goals from Timmins and Mackett topped off a dominant display, moving the ops up to top of the league with an impressive 22 points from a possible 27.
