The men's 2s saw themselves to another victory to remain undefeated.
Facing off against newly promoted Sutton Valance, the opps were in for an intense game when captain Bristow was sent to a superman style slide down the pitch before Rowe found his target for the first time this year scoring in the same play. Rowe went on to round out his hat trick in the first half with 2 supporting goals from Wishart and one from Ball. Sutton Valance did not let these goals go unanswered scoring 2 of their own from quick breakaways and crash balls that caught the Ops off guard.
With tackles becoming wild it was Crookston that received the only card of the game.
The half finishing 6-2 coach Goodings team talk encouraged more of the same while adapting to the opposition's attacks.
The tactical changes worked in the second half with Sutton Valance going scoreless thanks to the efforts of Cheap, Fry and Whitham. The optimists took on a style of hockey that led to constant pressure on the opposition. Fernaux's first touch took every ball up the pitch finding his fellow midfielders and forwards. While half backs Tolhurst, Crookston and Ithurdale looked threatening up sides.
With more penalty corners being awarded Wishart found the target twice more and the sensational skills of Ball the final goal was added for a 9-2 score line.
The 2s aim to carry this momentum in to next week's game against also undefeated Canterbury 2s.
