Third-place Holcombe played with movement and grace,
While Folkestone arrived with a smile on their face.
With buildup play patient and strikers so fleet,
The backline of Crookstone and Wishart felt heat.

First blood went to Holcombe despite the hard graft,
Of Ball, Bristow, Furneaux, and Cheap in the shaft.
Then Vincent deflected a flick round the post,
Before Holcombe’s attack made the very most.

Rowe broke away but the keeper stood tall,
Making a double save, stopping the ball.
While Brenchley was marshalling well in the D,
The skills of Kanny-G and Cheesman were something to see.

A fortunate bounce made it two before long,
Leaving Folkestone to fix where it all had gone wrong.
At the break, the message was simple and bright:
“Stay positive, work hard, and we'll put this one right.”

Then Hopkin, like Haig, stayed well off the grass,
But his tactical switch brought a new masterclass.
With Shaw and with Coombs finding space on the left,
The Holcombe defense looked a little bereft.

On the right, Ball and Tolhurst combined with such flair,
Before Wishart’s "artillery" flew through the air.
Rowe was then clattered, the umpires paused long,
Before Wishart’s stroke rifled high, right, and strong.

The final ten minutes were Folkestone’s entire,
As Vincent went AWOL with attacking fire.
He flashed it across but Rowe couldn't quite connect,
As they hunted the point that they’d come to expect.

A goalmouth scramble nearly shared out the spoils,
But the luck didn't land despite all of the toils.
Empty-handed they leave, but with heads held on high,
Three games, nine points, to play for beneath the home sky.
