After a big defeat in the first half of the season, the ops were keen to bounce back stronger and make amends. The game started and the ops came out strong, with good passing plays from the midfield and forward line. With lots of end to end hockey, the ops won some shorts quite early in the game, but were unable to convert. For 30 minutes, the defensive line withstood the constant pressure from a very good Blackheath side. Against the run of play, Blackheath got a counter and were able to have a 2 v 1 against the keeper for the first goal of the game. After a motivational team talk at half time, the ops came out positively and aggressively, keeping Blackheath guessing with regular attacks. However, with the ops pressing for a goal, the defence was left in tricky positions, leading to short corners, and eventually the second goal for Blackheath. Although the ops kept their heads high and stayed in the game, Blackheath were able to get their third of the game. Although the ops lost, a very strong performance from the ops which should be considered as positive, as the whole team played well together and made it very difficult for Blackheath to beat us.
