After losing to Sevenoaks earlier in the season, the ops were keen to make things right in the returning fixture.
Inspired by the West Ham win, the ops fired first with a flick being awarded less than a second before Nick Hopkin put the ball in the net. However Alex Wishart cooly stepped up and slotted away the flick to put folkestone ahead. 1-0. Neither team was able to settle and the game turned end to end, Sevenoaks jumping on it and scoring a short corner just before half time. 1-1.
Changing formation and game plan at half time, the ops came out with a clear plan and controlled the game from the off. Attack after attack folkestone hardly let the opposition out of their half thanks to an organised press led from the forwards of Hopkin, shaw and Cheesman. A solid packed midfeild with the experience of Bristow, Cheap, Hugo and Crookstone allowed the youth in Llewellyn, GKnanny and Payne to cause problems. With the umpire providing an amazing assist Hugo flicked home firing the ops ahead again. 2-1.
From then on the goals flew in. A cheeky flick from shaw put Hopkin 1 on 1 with the keeper and with a calm head span round and slotted it home. 3-1.
A very unselfish piece of play passed round the edge of the D through at least 5 people was very patient until Hugo got bored and flicked in another for the ops. And his second of the game. 4-1.
A very solid display at the back from Bono and Brenchley was very important and can’t be overlooked, keeping folkestone in the game.
A nice final bit of play with a banana run from ball tucking it back to assist a rocket into the bottom corner from Payne.
5-1 at the final whistle and a cracking performance as we brace ourselfs for a tough run next weekend against top of the table.
