Ops travelled with purpose, bolstered by the debut of Breandan Cheesman and guided by the tactical brain of Jack Gooding on the sideline. From the very first whistle, it was clear: this wasn’t just another league match—this was the derby of the season.
The opening exchanges were even, but Ops played with a fluency that Ashford simply couldn’t mirror. The defensive unit—Brenchley, shielded by Stone, Shaw, Vincent, and Wishart—looked every bit the well-oiled machine, playing their fourth game together and effortlessly shutting down anything in red and blue. Composed, disciplined, ruthless: Ashford’s forwards got nothing.

In midfield, Cheap, Coombs, Rumsey, Furneaux, and Kanny G dictated everything, slicing through Ashford with sharp passing and relentless energy. Half-chances piled up for the forwards Hopkin, Doyle, Cheeseman, and Crookstone, but the opener remained elusive.

Relentless pressure finally broke the dam. Another short corner, a broken routine, and some quick thinking saw Cheap sweep left, pick out Vincent, who slapped an inch-perfect ball to the back post where Crookstone made no mistake. A cool finish. A massive moment. 1–0 Ops.
Ashford tried to muster a response, but all it did was open up space—and Wishart and Furneaux rained aerials into the channels like guided missiles. Still, the killer second goal refused to come… until Ashford’s frustration boiled over.
