Ladies 4s H v Herne Bay

A surprisngly dry start to the day, was a very welcome change and after a frustrating loss last week, Folkestone were determined to get a positive result, still chasing a possible 2nd place league finish.
Herne Bay showed strength and speed with some talented young players who were very quick on the break, inspiring some crucial diving saves and one on one tackles from keeper and deserved player of the match Sue French.
Folkestone's defensive team coordinated well to break down much of the attacking play from Herne Bay. They linked well with the mid field including Captain Janna Courtney who assisted the first goal with a neat pass to Hilary Mercer on the right edge of the D, who fired a shot into the far corner of the goal.
Herne Bay continued to battle hard, but couldn't break through. Folkestone's forwards made constant, tireless leads, heaping pressure on Herne Bay's defense and their second goal came from a cross from Hilary Mercer to Justine Stephens, perfectly placed for a clean strike which rattled the backboard.
Folkestone were pleased with their tenacity and resilience, and glad to be back on winning form. Every player contributed to a strong team performance with up and coming Juniors Phoebe and Lilli continuing to improve with every game, playing with maturity and confidence.
