Following promotion from the previous year, Ops 3s got their league campaign off to a fantastic start away at Canterbury, showing grit, determination and integrity all over the pitch. They faced a tough first league fixture against Canterbury 4s who finished equal second in the league last season, but the team rose to the challenge and put in a fantastic all-round performance.
At the back, there was amazing defending from Baxter, Mac, Geds and Emma, who worked tirelessly to keep Canterbury at bay. Between the posts, Ailla produced some great goalkeeping, making crucial saves when called upon.

In midfield, Sophie B, Imogen, Sophie K and Dani showed incredible hard work and grit, battling for possession and helping to drive the team forward. Up front, Izzy and Phoebe impressed with some lovely fast runs, while Polly added skill and composure with some excellent passes to create opportunities for the team.

The opening goal came from a perfectly positioned short-corner placement from Baxter, who fired the ball into the bottom-left corner to give Ops the lead. Canterbury returned with a break away, creating a goal to level the playing field. At half-time scores were level.
The second half saw both teams coming out fighting, eager to take the lead. A bobbling ball in the circle spun past Ailla, giving Canterbury the lead. Ops fired up, tightening up their play through the midfield to create attacking opportunities. Finally, a short corner opportunity came and was converted. The second goal was another well-worked short corner, this time expertly slotted home by current top goal scorer Geds from a rebound off the keeper, levelling the score. 2-2 at full-time was a fair result and Ops were pleased with their performance.
It was a brilliant team performance, with everyone contributing from the first whistle to the last. Grit, teamwork and determination were on show all over the pitch, giving the newly promoted Ops 3s a fantastic start to their league campaign. Well played, Ops 3s! ??
