After a chaotic start the ladies 3s pulled off what can only be described as a smash and grab win against Hol-combe. Holcs had all the early possession with Ops unable to break out of their own half but defending resolutely, led by centre back Vicki Baxter. When Ops finally did manage to get on the front foot and attack they were rewarded instantly with Sophie Atwell’s pace beating the Holcs defence and finding Em Pullen who’s initial shot was saved by the goalkeeper but she pounced on the rebound and slipped the ball past the keeper. Ops were steadied by the introduction of Kay Parsons into the defensive line, supported by Ella Beggs, keeping the defence strong and organised as Holcs came looking for an equaliser. The second half continued in the same manner as the first with Holcs pushing for a goal but the work rate of the Ops side kept them in check until Rachel Darling-Dryburgh picked up the ball in midfield and played the ball to Alle-grea Hopkinson who drove to the D and picked out Pullen to sweep the ball in first time for her second. Holcs came again and forced keeper Amy Bumstead into an outstanding diving save to maintain Ops’ lead. The continued hard work of the whole team frustrated Holcs and kept the score at 2-0 to secure the points for Folkestone.
