The ladies 3s welcomed high flying Brom Becks for their game on Saturday. The game couldn’t have started any better with Ops early pressure from the outset resulting in a short corner. Vicki Baxter received the ball at the top and deftly slipped it into space for Nat Harvey to finish on the post. The buoyed Ops who pressed for a second through good movement from Evie Little and Allegra Hopkinson but were held out by the Brom Becks defence. Ops played some of their best hockey of the season in the first half, with the ball moving nicely around the pitch.
The game changed in the second half with Brom Becks, unaccustomed to being behind, coming out hard. The Ops defence however held strong with the unit of Sharon Harding, Baxter, Kay Parsons and Lilli Clayton working tirelessly to cut out the Brom Becks attacks. When they did cut through, midfielders Lily Rockall and Ella Beggs were on hand to support with keeper Amy Bumstead also making some excellent saves. As the game drew to end Brom Becks pushed everyone forward but Ops banded together to hold them out as a team. An excellent win against a good side
