The women’s 2s travelled to Maidstone for ended up being an intense game. A high paced first half saw Maidstone have more of the opportunities but the Ops defence held firm to frustrate the Maidstone attack. A much needed half time saw a change of approach and while Ops started to have some clearer chances, it was Maidstone who took the lead through an unfortunate Ops deflection. Ops didn’t sit back and a good wide play from Abbie Hopkin and Poppy Rockall broke through the Maidstone lines to find Demi Broome who fired a rocket into the roof of the Maidstone net. Back in the game and looking for a winner, Ops went close but it was a clever short corner routine from Maidstone that gave them back the lead and determined the result.
