The ladies 2s travelled to fellow strugglers Blackheath knowing they had to come away with points to not get dragged further into the relegation battle. Ops dominated the game from the start with youngsters Isla Gal-lagher, Allegra Hopkinson and Izzy Timmins causing chaos to the Blackheath defence with their pace and movement. Their running finally paid off midway through the first half when a drive from Gallagher found Emily Allon in the D who scored with a clever reverse stick finish. Ops continued to control the pace of the game and cutting out any Blackheath attacks early.

It seemed that half time had come at the wrong time for Ops and the right time for Blackheath as the home side came out swiftly to press for an equaliser. Their pressure paid off when a crash ball into the D was de-flected in to bring the game to 1-1. Ops weren’t having it and a pinpoint cross field pass from Erin Fuller found Gallagher who once again ran at the D, playing the ball to Hopkinson who found Timmins unmarked at the back post to finish. Again Blackheath pushed back with both sides desperate not to be on the losing end of the game. Blackheath won a series of short corners which eventually found dividends when the ball was charged down by Gallagher but cruelly looped up and back into the D for Blackheath to volley home and bring it back to 2-2. Both teams went for a winner but neither could find another goal leaving it at 2-2.

Ops were happy to come away with the point that keeps them above Blackheath and all to play for in the final 2 games of the season.
