Folkestone Women’s 1st XI travelled away to Reigate Priory for a match that got off to an uneasy start.
Folkestone unfortunately found themselves 1–0 down early on, then fortunately Reigate’s second goal was disallowed for foul play. But rather than letting the setback affect them and making the most of the disallowed goal, the team continued to fight and gradually began to take control of the game. As Folkestone settled into their rhythm, they started dictating the play, putting Reigate Priory under increasing pressure and creating opportunities in the final quarter.
Their persistence was rewarded when Meg Scott found the back of the net to bring Folkestone level. A well-worked move saw Becca Shaw deliver a dangerous cross into the circle, which Meg calmly slotted home to make it 1–1.
With the momentum shifting firmly in Folkestone’s favour, and a player of the match worthy goal line save from Jo Bryen, the team continued to battle and look for a way to take the lead. The equaliser was a deserved reward for their determination and their ability to respond positively after a difficult start.
Folkestone Optimist Women’s 1st XI remain unbeaten in the South East Premier division after 3 games.
