Folkestone Ladies 1s continued their fine form with a dominant 4–1 victory over Gore Court on Saturday — a result that lifts them to the top of the league table.
Folkestone started brightly and took control from the outset, moving the ball with confidence and pinning Gore Court deep in their own half. Their pressure told midway through the first half when Claire Carter fired home a straight strike short corner. The home side doubled their lead shortly after through Becca Shaw, who slotted home after an excellent passage of play down the right.
Before the break, Folkestone added a third through Livy Cheap, after sustained pressure to make it 3–0 at half-time.
In the second half, Folkestone maintained their dominance and created a host of chances. Their persistence paid off again when Livy Cheap grabbed her second of the match, reacting quickest to a ball in the air to volley it into the goal to make it 4–0.
Gore Court continued to fight and were rewarded late in the game with a consolation goal, taking advantage of a brief lapse from the Folkestone defence.
It was another impressive all-round display from Folkestone Ladies 1s, who combined attacking flair with solid teamwork to secure the win. The result sees them rise to the top of the league, and with confidence running high, they’ll look to keep their winning momentum going into next week’s fixture.
