Folkestone Ladies 1st XI maintained their winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 victory over Blackheath, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing as the goals only came after a goalless and somewhat scrappy first half.
From the first whistle, Folkestone looked to control the game, however, a lack of possession and some strong saves from the Blackheath keeper kept the home side frustrated. A cagey 35 minutes ended the first half.
The halftime whistle brought a reset, and whatever was said in the Folkestone team talk certainly had an impact. The second half saw a turnaround in tempo, structure, and attacking intent. Folkestone came out firing, immediately putting Blackheath on the back foot with quicker ball movement and sharper passing.
The breakthrough finally came and the goals flooded in. Maddie, Steph, Livy and Becky shared the goals and all got on the score sheet.
Credit must go to the defence and goalkeeper Becca for keeping a clean sheet, staying alert during Blackheath’s occasional forays forward. It was a second-half performance full of purpose, patience, and clinical finishing – a deserved win that showcased Folkestone's ability to step up and dominate.
