Folkestone ladies 1’s travelled to Eastbourne on Saturday full of confidence after the recent run of form - 3 wins from 4 games including a thriller against Oxted last week end.
The early start, a slow pitch and a very determined home side all contributed to fairly low key first half which finished 0.0
Half time saw a change of intensity asked for by skipper Jo Bryen and Ops started the second half brightly. The attacking quartet of Meg, Claire, Cleo and Nicki created spaces and opportunities from the start. The determined defending continued but Ops stayed patient and finally broke the deadlock 15 mins from time-Meg deflecting a short corner between the stranded keepers legs.
A flick was awarded shortly after for Claire being taken out but was questionably overturned moments after. Not to be deterred the attacking continued, midfielders SJ, Mad T and player of the match Becky Wyatt continued to supply the forwards good ball and the second quickly followed as a slick move out of defence found Cleo in space, who smartly rounded the keeper and finished calmly on her reverse.
Eastbourne by now had lost a bit of heart and Ops found even more space, Laurel and Mad R made decisive breaks from the back, whilst Steph, Jo and Becca kept things tight at the back.
Nicki found the net to make it 3 moments from time after another trademark selfless Becky W assist!
Overall a great result showing yet more development in this wonderful squad.
