Folkestone ladies 1s have continued to grow in strength throughout pre season and into the first few games of the new league. They hosted a strong sevenoaks team on Saturday and started well through link up play between the Folkestone defence and midfield. In the first half the best chance saw a great ball played by Katy Benson out to Becky Wyatt on the right wing who accelerated past her opponent and crossed the ball to Claire Carter in the d. Claire spotted a late run in to the d by Meg Scott and slipped the ball neatly to her but unfortunately the strong sevenoaks defence and goalkeeper kept the ball out.

Half way through the first half sevenoaks capitalised on a loose ball played into the middle of the pitch and attacked quickly allowing their forward to deflect a long ball past goalkeeper becca smith and into the corner.

Folkestone had a number of attacking short corners in reply but couldn’t quite convert them.

A positive team talk from coaches Ben Allon and Nicki ball saw Folkestone start the second half which much more focus and the whole team worked hard for each other creating a number of attacking opportunities through the link up between Maddie timmins and beck Wyatt. Christine Lawrence also managed to create some opportunities deep into the sevenoaks defence but Folkestone were not able to score despite an excellent team performance in a very strong league.
